What are Calcium Nitrate Fertilizers?
Calcium nitrate fertilizers are highly water-soluble chemical fertilizers used to provide sources of calcium and nitrogen to plants. These calcium-based fertilizers are typically available as a dry granular product or liquid solution and are used in industrial agriculture, hydroponics, and even by home gardeners to treat nutrient deficiencies, protect plant health, and increase crop production.
Our Role in the Production of Calcium Nitrate Fertilzers
What We Do
Carmeuse and our affiliates support producers of calcium nitrate fertilizer from End-2-End.
Calcium is a main ingredient required in the manufacturing of calcium nitrate fertilizers. Carmeuse lime and limestone products, including high calcium limestone, high calcium quicklime, high calcium hydrated lime and CALSAFE® lime slurry, are ideal sources of calcium for use in the production process. Carmeuse is also able to provide lime handling equipment including offloading, pneumatic conveying, and lime slaking systems.
How it Helps
- Efficient Calcium Supply – Carmeuse high calcium quicklime is derived from select high calcium limestone deposits containing no more than 5% magnesium content. This high calcium content helps ensure high-performance and reactivity.
- Consistent Quality – The purity of raw materials used in production ultimately impacts the quality of the end product. Carmeuse lime and limestone products are routinely tested for quality and consistency, to ensure the right chemistry and physical properties for use in manufacturing processes.
Lime Slaking Systems & Upgrades
Over time, equipment at chemical manufacturing facilities may need updated or replaced due to normal wear and tear or for the integration of new technologies. Carmeuse Systems supplies advanced equipment solutions for lime storage, handling, and slaking. Our expert engineers can design the right solution to keep your calcium nitrate fertilizer production running smoothly, from new lime handling systems and slakers, to retrofits and upgrades for your existing equipment.
