Description:
Dolopel is a dead-burned dolomitic quicklime that is mixed with a variety of other raw materials for the manufacture of refractory bricks. These bricks provide high temperature resistance, good thermodynamic stability, and slag erosion resistance. Dolopel supports the refractory lining's ability to better retard the heat from penetrating and damaging outer shells of steel ladles, furnaces and kilns.
Benefits:
- Meets your calcium, magnesium, and purity specification
- Improves refractory performance
- Extends refractory life
- Burned within a high tolerance to offer physical and chemical consistency
- Custom bagging available, including “Super Sacks”

DOLOPEL Production
Carmeuse quarries and sizes raw materials to exact specifications to be calcined in the kiln. Dolopel is then blended with a variety of other refractory grade materials in the production of refractory bricks that are used in the linings of furnaces and ladles. As a dead burned material, it is calcined at a temperature that is higher than necessary for slaking. This results in less reactivity for the lime and a higher density product.
Dolomitic limestone contains about 35% to 45% magnesium carbonate (MgCO3); the remainder is primarily CaCO3, again with 1%—3% impurities.

Uses for DOLOPEL
Dolopel can be used as a bonding, stabilizing, and fluxing agent and a critical component in the making of refractory bricks.
In steelmaking, they are used in the making of refractory bricks which line the EAF and BOF steel ladles and furnaces to protect the outer shells from extremely high temperatures and slag erosion.
