Carmeuse Dundas Celebrates High-school Graduation with Pathways to Education

The Pathways to Education program provides high school students in low-income communities with academic, financial, social, and one-on-one tutoring support on their way to graduation. First developed in Toronto’s Regent Park Community Health Center in 2001, it has now expanded to 27 low-income communities across Canada, working with over 6000 students. 

Compass Community Health has been running the program in the Hamilton area since 2009 for young people in the neighborhoods of Keith, Bennetto, Gibson and Landsdale. Local to the community, the Carmeuse Dundas Operation has been supporting this work for the last four years as a corporate sponsor of the Pathways to Education graduation program, donating $10,000 to this year’s event.

We are trying more and more to take this need seriously in other ways, and have been partnering with local colleges to have sessions on apprenticeships for our students.
