Michigan Carmeuse Employees Participate in STEM Fair

Carmeuse employees from several sites in Michigan participated in the Eastern Upper Peninsula (EUP) K-8 STEM Fair at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on December 6. The Carmeuse Team set up a booth with fun demonstrations designed to interact with the students and introduce them to careers in STEM.

The STEM Fair hosted 204 students who presented 147 science and engineering projects. Students presented their projects, and judges evaluated each. Awards were given to the top three presentations in each grade.

Carmeuse’s booth displayed a closed-circuit electrical system and a miniature conveyor belt that shot out candy to the kids in between their presentations.

“Our Carmeuse team enjoyed interacting with the students at the fair,” said Tracy Reichlin of Drummond Island. “We were encouraged by the student’s enthusiasm towards science and engineering.”

The Drummond Island site was represented by Tracy Reichlin, HR Generalist, and Blake Melvin, Millwright. Carmeuse Calcite was represented by Electricians Isaac Morgan and Jeremy Kuznicki, and the Cedarville site was represented by Kathy Kasper, Plant Generalist.
