Help from Longview employees will provide warmth and comfort to the homeless.
During the month of September, employees at the Carmeuse Longview Operation collected used, but in ‘great condition,’ winter wear including coats, gloves and shoes. The collection of winter garments was donated to Jimmie Hale Missions, a homeless shelter & service provider in Birmingham, Alabama.
On Thursday, October 13, led by Keith Shimel, Maintenance Supervisor at Longview, employees from the plant delivered a pick-up truck full of winter wear items to Jimmie Hale Missions. As expressed by Sybil Owens, Human Resources at Longview, “I continue to be impressed with our team’s generosity & huge heart. Big thanks to Keith Shimel who did a great job coordinating the event with Jimmie Hale Missions.”
Gratitude towards the outreach from Longview employees was also expressed by Perryn Carroll, Executive Director at Jimmie Hale Mission, “It was so nice to meet you and your coworkers today. We can’t thank you enough for your generous truckload of coats, shoes and gloves. Your compassion for those in need is truly a gift that will be appreciated not only for the warmth that the garments will provide, but also for the kindness that provided them.”
