Carmeuse’s Maple Grove Operation recently demonstrated its commitment to community development and social responsibility by donating a significant sum of $75,000 to the Old Fort School Board. This generous contribution supports the board’s initiative to create a new playground, an endeavor that is expected to cost between $350,000 and $410,000 in total.
Present at the school board’s meeting to offer both emotional and financial support were Brian Horvath, Kevin Stevenson, and Vickie Kent from Carmeuse’s Maple Grove Operation. Their presence and the substantial donation were warmly received by the school board, educators, and all those involved in the project.
Kevin Stevenson, the Site Operations Manager at Carmeuse Maple Grove Operation, shares his perspective on the project:
“Building this partnership with Old Fort Schools over the last few years has been extremely gratifying. And to be able to do something that benefits the school and the Village of Bettsville at the same time makes this donation even more special. It is important for Carmeuse to be a contributing member of the community. I look forward to growing this special relationship in the future and am excited to see how we can further help the schools and community.”
The community had set a goal to raise at least $110,000 locally to help finance the playground project. Carmeuse’s contribution has significantly propelled the community closer to this target, ensuring that the students of Old Fort Elementary and the broader Bettsville community will benefit from this initiative.
