Spooking out in Huron with Carmeuse runners and volunteers
The penultimate race in the 2023 edition of the Huron 5K Series took place on October 28th in Huron, Ohio, with its traditional Halloween theme.
109 racers took part in the St. Peter Spooktacular 5K and Kids Pumpkin Fun Run, braving cold, overcast conditions to complete the course. The Carmeuse Huron Operation continued its sponsorship of the season, providing post-race treats and bottled water for participants and their families.
The event is one of the largest fundraisers for St. Peter School in Huron. Money raised goes toward its special and enrichment classes. Race organizer, Angie Edwards, thanked Carmeuse for “the marvellous snacks and water”.
Brian Kasten brought home the men’s race in a time of 17:40.1, with 12-year-old Laney Schlessmann taking top spot among the women in a time of 21:08.2. In addition to the main race, a number of tots participated in the Kids Fun Run, many in costume.
The Huron 5K Series will conclude on November 24th in traditional festive style with the Judi Lively Memorial Annual Turkey Dash.
