Yager Materials remove thousands of pounds of trash from Ohio River
Volunteers from Yager Materials, a member company of Carmeuse, recently joined environmental charity, Living Lands & Waters, to clear trash from the Ohio River. The group of twelve spent five hours on June 9th picking about 3000 lbs. of garbage as part of LL&W’s mission to improve the state of the nation’s waterways.
Owensboro, KY-based Yager has a longstanding relationship with LL&W, dating back over a decade, when the company’s shipbuilding division, Yager Marine, built a tailor-made excavator barge and classroom barge for the charity. Yager personnel now regularly volunteer with LL&W clean-up campaigns. Taking part in June’s efforts were:
- Joel Bradley
- David Graves
- Justin Hocker

Headquartered in East Moline, Illinois, Living Lands & Waters was established by Chad Pregracke in 1998 and has since grown to be the only ‘industrial strength’ river clean-up organization of its type in the world. So far this year the organization has removed roughly 184,802 lbs of garbage from seven rivers with the help of 1080 volunteers.
