Description:
Limestone is a naturally occurring sedimentary rock that is composed almost entirely of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), which is considered high calcium limestone. It is incredibly versatile and used in many industries from agriculture to steelmaking because of the beneficial properties and high calcium content.
Benefits:
- Versatile in its use across industries due to high calcium content
- Available as raw stone for additional processing or as Ground Calcium Carbonate
- Adds strength and durability in several applications

High Calcium Limestone Uses
High calcium limestone is a versatile material that finds uses in several industries. Some of the key uses of further processed high calcium limestone are:
- Production of building materials: High calcium limestone adds desirable qualities like strength and durability to finished products, while also reducing overall material costs. It is used in the production of carpet, vinyl tile, mortars, plastics, and roofing shingles.
- Agriculture: High calcium limestone is the most cost-effective source of calcium for animal feed. It ensures that livestock, including poultry, cattle, and pigs, have enough calcium in their diets for proper health and development. Additional calcium derived from calcium carbonate is essential for increased egg production and quality.
- Soil amendment: High calcium limestone is used to amend acidic soils by increasing the soil's pH levels. This can improve crop yields and ensure that plants have access to the necessary nutrients for healthy growth.
- Glass production: High calcium limestone is used to make glass by providing the necessary calcium for the glass to harden and become durable.
- Aggregates for construction: High calcium limestone is used as aggregates in roadways, asphalt, and concrete. The material adds strength and durability to the final product.
- Flue gas cleaning: High calcium limestone is used in flue gas technologies to remove pollutants from industrial exhaust gases. The calcium reacts with sulfur dioxide to form calcium sulfate, which is then removed from the gas stream.
