Abbey Rose Foundation 5K Trail Run/Walk fueled by Carmeuse Huron
The Carmeuse Huron Operation supplied water, snacks and bananas to participants and volunteers at this year’s Abbey Rose Foundation 5K Trail Run/Walk and 1-mile Kids Fun Run. Taking place in Faben Park in Huron, OH, on 7 August, the run raised funds for the Abbey Rose Foundation, supporting its mission to help prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and provide comfort for families grieving the loss of a child.
Abbey Rose staff members expressed their gratitude for Carmeuse’s contribution, thanking the company for “all the support shown, not only to us, but to so many other causes in Huron”.
In total, 63 runners completed the 5K – including Carmeuse’s very own Christine Mollison, Site Co-ordinator at the Huron Operation! Particular shout-outs also go to Eric Barber, 16, the top male runner with a time of 20:45, and to Kacie Geretz, 28, the top female competitor, who completed in 22:43.
The Abbey Rose 5K is part of the Huron 5K Series of five races, sponsored by Carmeuse. The series started in July with the Huron River Fest 5K. Next up is the BGSU Firelands Falcon Fun Run in September, fundraising for scholarships to the Firelands satellite campus of Bowling Green State University in Huron.
