Carmeuse Chatsworth salutes veterans with new flag pole
As we approach Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11, employees at the Carmeuse Chatsworth Operation, GA, were keen to recognize the veterans that work for the company.
“As a company, we have a big heart for our veterans,” said Carmeuse Chatsworth’s Human Resources Manager, April Garland. The operation is a part of the local Veterans Day parade and already flies the flag at its scale house and on the Carmeuse sign on the highway.
“When Joey Weaver, our Area Operations Manager and a veteran himself, suggested a flag pole on the road to the office, we made it happen and everyone has appreciated it,” continued Garland, whose husband, Mark, volunteered to put up the pole on his Sunday off.
Over the country’s history, more than 41 million men and women have services in the armed services, including more than 16 million in World War II alone.
According to the US Census Bureau, there are now about 18 million veterans living in the US, making up roughly 7% of the adult population.
