Carmeuse Dundas shares the magic of Christmas

Carmeuse Dundas shares the magic of Christmas

Christmas should be a season of celebration. But for many low-income families, it can be a time of worry and financial hardship. Pushing back against these challenges, CityKidz in Hamilton, ON, helps bring the joy of the season to these families with gifts of toys for children who may otherwise get very little.

In 2020, CityKidz gifted 4,879 toys to children in the Hamilton community at Christmas.

Helping that light to continue shining this year, the Carmeuse Dundas Operation has donated a range of toys for 10-12 year olds, the age group that traditionally receives the fewest donations. The gifts, which have a combined value of $600, included remote-control cars, basketballs and soccer balls.

“Dundas proudly supports CityKidz’s mission to increase resiliency and inspire BIG dreams for Canadian children living in low-income communities,” said Dundas’s Sylvia Alvarez and Kerry Moffat, who organized the toy drive.

The donation to CityKidz is part of a tradition of giving at Dundas. Earlier this year, the plant and its employees supported the local food bank’s back-to-school campaign, which provided vital school supplies to children of low-income families.
