Carmeuse Huron sponsors spooky 5K in aid of local school
The Huron 5K Series continued in ghostly fashion this past Halloween. The annual St. Peter Spooktacular 5K and Kids Pumpkin Fun Run took place on October 29th with Carmeuse Huron offering bottled water and snacks to participants as part of its ongoing sponsorship of the race series.
A total of 95 racers lined up for the 5K race through residential areas in and around downtown Huron. Pearson Keller, 18, crossed the finish line first for the men in a time of 17:46. Thirteen-year-old Rylie Towns led the women home in a time of 20:56. Carmeuse was again represented by Christine Mollison, Huron Site Coordinator, who finished fourth in her age group and remains on track to complete all five of this year’s races.
The St. Peter's Spooktacular 5K and Kids Pumpkin Fun Run is one of the largest fundraisers that helps pay for St. Peter’s special and enrichment classes. The 5K organizer, Angie Edwards, was grateful for the water and snacks saying, “Thank you so much for donating these!”
The Huron 5K Series now moves on to its final event, the Judi Lively Memorial Turkey Dash on November 24th.
