Carmeuse Port Inland supports student health and wellbeing
Students at Manistique Middle and High School, MI, will benefit from new weight training equipment, thanks for a donation from the nearby Carmeuse Port Inland Operation.
The whole student body—about 550 young people—will be able to use the equipment free of charge. Student athletes will be able to build strength and stamina; physical education classes will use the equipment to teach proper technique; and non-athletes can use it to improve their health and wellbeing.
“The donation demonstrates our continuing commitment to the people of our local community and to making a positive contribution to the lives of those who live near to us,” said Port Inland’s Patrick Lamb and Shena Meffer, who is herself an alumna of the Manistique Middle and High School.
Carmeuse Port Inland and its employees are an active participant in community life, providing support for a number of good causes. In August, a team of volunteers from the plant participated in a Habitat for Humanity Local Build Day.
The plant is also a sponsor of the Manistique Feeding America food truck, which provides hundreds of food parcels to families in food poverty.
