Carmeuse team lends a hand at Bay Cliff Health Camp work bee
Carmeuse employees, friends, and family from locations in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula recently spent two days volunteering at the annual Bay Cliff Health Camp summer work bee. The team of 17, representing the Cedarville, Drummond Island and Port Inland Operations, helped with a range of maintenance tasks to prepare for the 2022 summer season at the camp.
Founded in 1933, the Bay Cliff Health Camp is a therapy and wellness center for individuals with disabilities. Running since 1934, its flagship seven-week summer therapy camp supports children with disabilities toward increasing their independence and living a fuller life. In addition to the summer camp, Bay Cliff runs programs throughout the year, including for adults with intellectual and development disabilities.
To support this work, Bay Cliff hosts several events for organizations aligned with its commitment to promote health, happiness, and independence for people of all ages.
“As the Carmeuse Foundation Partner for the Cedarville, Drummond Island and Port Inland Operations, each year we send several volunteers to help with maintenance projects on the grounds of the camp,” explained Roger Nash, Site Operations Manager at Drummond Island. “This year’s work order included siding the back of a cabin, replacing cabin windows and doors, painting cabins, porches and part of an office building, installing and repairing fences by the lake, and weeding by the office building.”
The Carmeuse team included:
- Amy Hoffman, and her father Pete, Chad and Nicole Cornwell, Blake Sequin and three fellow members of the Jokers Motorcycle Club, and WT Gough from Cedarville.
- Roger Nash, Tracy Reichlin, Shannon Baareman, and Nick Newell from Drummond Island.
- Matt Molnar, who works across both Cedarville and Drummond Island.
