Extreme heat moves Macon employees into action for the community
Late June into July has seen temperatures rise to 105 degrees in Macon, Georgia. When it gets that hot, it can be unbearable for us all, but the homeless are most vulnerable. The Loaves & Fishes Ministries and Daybreak Shelter provide refuge for the homeless, but resources are always needed. The employees at the Carmeuse Macon facility recognized the situation provided bottled water to both venues on an extremely hot day in June.
It was a particularly timely blessing for Loaves & Fishes and the Daybreak Shelter because they had run out of water at the very moment the Macon employees arrived with a truck load of bottled water as replenishment. Carmeuse employees Curtis Bailey and Ellis Nichols delivered the water by truck and were aided by co-workers Fred Murry and Steve Troutman who both help load the truck.
Employees for the two ministries were very grateful. Kristen Zimmer, Manager, Human Resource Dept. at Carmeuse emphasized, “Our kindhearted employees respond to the needs of others and will go out of their way to give back to the community. We are very proud of our employees.”
