Grand River lights Christmas trees and the hearts of its Foundation Partner
Torchlight Mentoring, the Foundation Partner for Grand River, held their 22nd annual Festival of Trees Gala fundraiser Saturday night. Decorated trees and items that had been donated by sponsors were auctioned off at the annual event.
Carmeuse Grand River donated and decorated 2 trees for the event. The theme of the donated Carmeuse trees was "Rival Football Weekends." Creatively, one tree was decorated half Cleveland Browns/half Pittsburgh Steelers while the other tree was decorated half Michigan Wolverines/half Ohio State Buckeyes.
The trees sold during the auction for $800 and $700 respectively. Asher Horvath, 8th grade son of site manager Brian Horvath, helped Vickie Kent, OH Regional Human Resource Manager and his father Brian decorate both trees as his service project for the Jr. National Honor Society.
Carmeuse also presented Torchlight Mentoring with their annual Foundation sponsorship check.
According to Vickie Kent, “It was a very successful evening with more than $25,000 being raised throughout the evening through auctions, raffles, and donations.”
