Grand River sponsors Bowl-A-Thon for youth mentoring

Carmeuse’s Grand River operation supports youth mentoring programs in Northeast Ohio, sponsoring the 40th annual Light Up the Lanes Bowl-A-Thon fundraising event for Torchlight Youth Mentoring Alliance.

In total, Carmeuse Grand River donated $500 to the Torchlight Youth Mentoring program with a further $1,600 donated by Carmeuse vendors. The Grand River team also provided about 25 hours’ volunteer support for the event with three Carmeuse employees, Brian Horvath, Steve Pounds and George McCloskey, helping out on the night of the Bowl-A-Thon. Two more employees, Bob Hay and Harry Harris, donated time to reach out to vendors for donations.

Torchlight Youth Mentoring Alliance (formerly Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Ohio) helps young people reach their highest potential as responsible, adaptable and caring adults through volunteer mentoring schemes and educational programs that teach entrepreneurial, business, and life skills to high school students. The annual Bowl-A-Thon took place April 25 at the RollHouse in Mentor, OH
