Innovation Center Donates to Protect First Responders

The Carmeuse Innovation Center in Pittsburgh donated 1,800 gloves and 50 surgical gowns to local first responders to equip them with protective gear during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A relationship with the Ross/West View EMS in Pittsburgh existed through an MSHA CPR/AED First Aid Training Course conducted annually at the Innovation Center. Dana Brooks, Office Admin and Safety Lead at the Innovation Center evaluated the needs and organized the delivery of the supplies.

“We wanted to help our first responders,” said Dana Brooks of the Innovation Center. “We reached out to Jen Swab of the Ross-West View EMS who determined they were in need of size small and medium surgical gowns and gloves.”

Brooks coordinated with local safety supplier U.S. Safety Gear to order all that was left in stock of the items. On April 20, 2020 the gloves and gowns were safely delivered to the Ross/West View EMS Station.

“The donations will be a huge help in keeping our First Responders safe,” said Swab.
