Michigan Operations Provide Thanksgiving Meals to Local Families
This November, Carmeuse’s Michigan operations provided Thanksgiving meals to families in need through local school districts. A total of 110 meal baskets, totaling nearly $8,000, were gifted to families with the help of several local grocery stores and school administrators.
The Port Inland operation worked with Jack’s Fresh Market to gift 10 meal baskets to families at Emerald Elementary. Families in DeTour Area Schools and Drummond Island Elementary received 14 meal baskets from the Drummond Island operation, with the help of Sune’s IGA Grocery.
The Cedarville plant donated 56 meals to families in the Cedarville, Pickford, Brimley and Sault Area school districts. This donation was made with the help of Cedarville Foods and USW Local 182. Carmeuse’s Calcite plant worked with Family Fare and Save-A-Lot grocery stores to donate 30 meals to families in Rogers City Area Schools, Onaway Area Schools and the Posen Consolidated School.
"We know all too well the financial burden COVID-19 has put on families and businesses in our community,” said Sheena Meffer, “We hope that our contributions reduce some of the burden."
