Port Inland, Drummond and Cedarville Employees Repair Cabins at Health Camp
On September 1-2, Carmeuse employees from the Port Inland, Drummond and Cedarville operations volunteered at Bay Cliff Health Camp to repair and update cabins.
Bay Cliff Health Camp is a year-round nonprofit therapy and wellness center for children and adults with physical disabilities. Founded in 1933, the camp operates with the goal of promoting health, happiness and independence for people of all ages. The cabins house children and adults with disabilities for several camps and retreats each year.
The camp is currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but volunteers are welcome to help with projects. Carmeuse employees from the three operations joined forces to roof, shingle, insulate and paint the camp cabins, ensuring that they will be updated and ready for campers once it is safe to reopen.
Shena Meefer of Carmeuse spoke towards the resilient spirit of her fellow co-workers towards this annual commitment, “Every year we look forward to this event, it is such a rewarding experience to visit with the children and provide the camp with the our help. This year the camp is shut down due to the current pandemic but it was still rewarding for those who participated. We are hopeful that next year the camp is open so we once again have the opportunity to visit with the children.”
