Port Inland Supports Adopt-A-Highway and Gift of Life Foundation of Michigan
This July, Carmeuse’s Port Inland operation supported Adopt-A-Highway, through a cleanup day of service, and Gift of Life Foundation of Michigan, through the 2nd Annual Dunk the Manager Fundraiser.
Several employees cleaned up two miles of U.S. Highway 2 as part of the Michigan Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Highway program, which is designed to minimize litter and help keep the highway roadsides clean.
“Thank you to the employees who took part in the highway cleanup this year,” said Mike Cirino, Site Operation Manager. “We were so happy to contribute to cleaning up a local highway.”
All Port Inland employees participated in the 2nd Annual Dunk the Manager Fundraiser benefitting the Gift of Life Foundation, which works to facilitate organ and tissue recovery. The foundation was chosen to receive funds raised at this year’s event in honor of a current Port Inland employee who recently underwent a liver and lung transplant.
“We chose to donate all funds raised through our Dunk the Manger fundraiser directly to Gift of Life Foundation in honor of an employee,” said Shena Meffer, Administrative Assistant. “This employee wanted to give back to the foundation after recently receiving two vital organ transplants.”
