River Rouge Donates Food Baskets to Community

River Rouge Donates Food Baskets to Community

Volunteers from Carmeuse’s River Rouge plant are preparing and donating food baskets to employees and local community members to ensure access to food during the COVID-19 pandemic. Food supplies are purchased from Motion Industries and subsequent assembly and distribution organized by River Rouge Maintenance Planner Chad Wright and Process Engineer Alex Pogasic.

On April 17, the first round of food baskets was distributed to River Rouge employees. A second round of donations was distributed on April 24 to local police and students at the River Rouge STEM School Academy. The donations are set to continue bi-weekly through May.

With the help of LaToiya Tolliver-Revell, Principal of River Rouge STEM School Academy, Wright, Pogasic and several employees distributed the baskets safely through a drive-by delivery station.

“We recognize the impacts of COVID-19 on the River Rouge community,” said Wright. “By donating food, we hope to ease burdens and keep people safe and healthy.”
