Winchester Virginia Plant Supports Local Vendor and Provides Meals for Employees' Families

The current COVID-19 pandemic, that presents unique challenges, inspired Carmeuse’s Winchester plant to support a local small business and provide for its employees. On April 2nd, Carmeuse employed the services of Jordan Springs Market BBQ to provide meals to its team of approximately 90 employees. The effort, named “Family Packs,” was organized by Jaime DeHaven of the Winchester, VA Operation. Employees Ginger Sharman, George McKotch, Wesley Simancas, Chris Spiker and Logan Thompson handed out these meal packs for employees to take home at the end of their shift. Employees, who were off-shift were given meal vouchers to redeem at their convenience.

Logan Thompson, the Site Operations Manager, expressed his gratitude to his team, “I couldn’t be more proud of the Carmeuse Winchester team working safely and working hard to provide essential lime and limestone products during this time --- this boxed meal was just a small thank you for them and their families.”

Equally grateful was Olivia Landry, Owner of Jordan Springs Market BBQ in Stephenson, VA., “Jordan Springs Market was so proud to prepare Family Packs of BBQ and Homemade sides for the entire team at Carmeuse in Clearbrook, VA last week. During this challenging time for all industries, it says so much that Carmeuse supports my locally owned small business in this way. We have gratefully catered meals for the folks there for many years now and appreciate the partnership with Carmeuse and the awesome work the folks at the plant do every day! Together, working within our community - we will all get through this... with a little more gratitude than ever before!”
