Clean Water and Sanitation
“Clean” water is essential for life. Additionally, properly treated wastewater is essential for the environment. Lime, a core product of Carmeuse, is a primary means to treat both drinking and waste water. We ensure the water in our active quarries are properly settled and contained ,and the water in our non-active quarries revalorized for drinking or wildlife purposes. Our strategy is to continue growing our offering of solutions to treat water through new product development, acquisitions and expanding operations in new regions.

Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
Our primary business starts with lime and limestone, which have been used in infrastructure projects for thousands of years. Currently our largest growth segment is in construction, thus making it a key part of our strategic focus. Our strategy focuses in three areas: mergers & acquisitions, innovative solutions and expansion of existing offerings. This has enabled us to broaden our portfolio, develop solutions that replace other environmental intensive products and expand our footprint to support infrastructure projects.

Responsible Consumption and Production
Irresponsible production or use of our resources is not good for business or the environment. It all starts with our mine plan to ensure we remove the optimum material in the most efficient way, and ends with developing innovative uses for all variations of our materials. Our strategy continues to focus on acquisitions, product development and operation improvements that helps us repurpose, or minimize, material that otherwise may be landfilled.

Life on Land
The land that Carmeuse owns is our life. While we remove resources that contribute to humankind, it is also our responsibility to give back. Thus, we place great emphasis on the restoration of nature and enhancement of biodiversity. Even during the operational life of our quarries, we invest in restoring them through taking care of water quality, planting trees, and incorporating programs that brings back wildlife. We take care to promote biodiversity through partnering with groups to ensure wildlife habitats are not disrupted. And lastly, we invest in community projects that promote greenspaces, nature education and land restoration.
