More information
Carmeuse has over 160 years of geological expertise that enables us to explore the best available sources of stone worldwide. Carmeuse owns and leases high quality natural deposits of high-calcium limestone and dolomitic stone.
Chemical grade limestone/dolomitic stone is extracted and processed carefully in consideration of stringent chemical characteristics such as high CaO and low impurity levels of Al2O3, SiO2, sulphur and organic matter.
We strive to meet our customer’s requirements that cover an entire stone size range. Our graded high-calcium limestone is used in taconite pellets, blast furnace operations, and agglomeration and sinter plants to improve iron quality, productivity, cost and the overall environmental impact.
Several needs should be taken into consideration when selecting the right product for your ironmaking process:
- Chemistry of the iron ore
- Limestone sizing
Critical parameters | Typical consumption (kg/ton of Iron) |
---|---|
1. Grain size 2. CaO and MgO content 3. Lower content of SiO2, MgO, Al2O3, and sulphur | Limestone/dolostone: 100 – 150 |
Sinter productivity increases with increasing limestone average particle size due to improved sinter bed permeability. Sinter with limestone proper particle size results in better strength of the final product.
