Calcitec® for Building Materials

Calcitec® in the mix results in high-performance membranes and shingles for long-lasting roofing applications.

Calcitec® is used where carpet backing flooring needs to achieve the correct weight per square meter, and luxury vinyl flooring needs performant stability layers. 

Calcitec® is used for facade clay brick production, as clay has compounds of silica, alumina, feldspar, and iron oxides. It changes the brick’s color to yellow or cream. With coloring agents, this can be corrected to produce a broad color portfolio of trendy bricks. So, it will burn to a brown, pink, or red brick, depending on the amount of iron oxide in the clay.

Calcium Silicate Masonry Units are produced by mixing lime, sand, and water in a batch process, where the lime must react immediately with the quicklime to develop some early ‘green’ strength before entering the autoclave. Each factory is looking for the right reactivity of quicklime to optimize its production capacity.

Calcitec® is engineered milled limestones for all types of ready-mix and precast concrete. Better pumpability is achieved thanks to the presence of numerous microfines below 2µm, which helps to increase the archaeological behavior of the mixes. These microfines also result in a product with consistent behavior in water absorption, which is highly valued for self-compacting concrete.
